Step inside the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre (TTIC) and you’ll quickly see why our Travel Advisors are the heartbeat of Tasmania’s visitor experience. In 2025, the role of a Visitor Information Centre is more dynamic than ever and our team thrives on it.
By 9 am, the first wave of visitors is already streaming through. All visitors are greeted with a smile and a wealth of local knowledge. Questions range from “Where’s the best coffee shop?” to “What is this National Parks Pass business?” and everything in between. Most inquiries happen face-to-face, but phones ring steadily and emails ping throughout the day — because not everyone can pop in.
Travel Advisors are multitasking masters. They handle accommodation and tour bookings, process Spirit of Tasmania tickets, and assist with museums and attractions entrance tickets. Operators’ brochures line the centre, giving local businesses prime exposure to the 150,000+ visitors who walk through our doors each year. It’s a win-win: visitors get curated recommendations, and operators get their message out.
Our booking system includes over 200 operators, from boutique stays to adventure tours. No one can know every detail about every product — but we work hard to keep our knowledge sharp. How? Through operator product presentations and team family opportunities, so our Travel Advisors can experience offerings firsthand and share authentic recommendations.
Beyond advice, our Travel Advisors manage retail sales — from maps to locally made gifts. And when cruise season hits, the pace picks up. Our team staffs the MAC2 cruise terminal, meeting passengers as they disembark. Right there on the spot, Travel Advisors help book tours so visitors can make the most of their short time ashore.
While Advisors are the heart, our volunteers are the soul of the operation. Their warmth and generosity brighten every interaction, proving that hospitality is as much about heart as it is about organisation and logistics.
In an age of apps and algorithms, nothing beats human connection. TTIC Travel Advisors don’t just answer questions — they craft experiences, solve problems, and make memories. They’re the gifts who keep on giving, every single day.
Want to see the magic in action? Drop by the TTIC or MAC2 during cruise season. If you’re holiday shopping (yes, we have some amazing gift ideas) or if you need national parks passes, or a local tip, our team is here to make your Tasmanian adventure unforgettable.
