Whether it’s after a brisk, wintry walk or a beach getaway, there are many opportunities to chill out, kick back and reconnect with loved ones in Tasmania. We recognize that relaxation looks different to everyone, and you might have already found your relaxation style in the Adventure section of this website, but here is a selection of some of our favourite ways to chill out in Tasmania:
Bathe in nature
Finding an outdoor tub in Tasmania is a thing here in Tasmania. With a little help from those in the know, you could almost create an entire Tasmanian itinerary dedicated to bathing with a beach or bush backdrop.
Roadtrip… Slowly towards the West.
Tasmanian road trips are many. Our island is small, yet packed with so much to see and do. The Western Wilds journey is perfect for a slow road trip, with winding roads through ancient rainforest and past snowy topped mountains, you will want to stop and smell the gum trees. There are plenty of places to stop along the way, including short, accessible walks, townships that speak of mining and hydro histories and spooky, long abandoned lost villages along the way.
Be entertained in Hobart
Whether it’s a pop up live music venue like Rektango in Salamanca on Fridays, or a night out at the Theatre Royal, the TTIC team are plugged into what’s on in and around Hobart. Let us know what interests you and we can make some suggestions!
Beachcombing on the East Coast
Don’t worry if it’s a little chilly, there’s nothing more romantic than walking along a secluded beach in beanie weather. Whether it’s walking boots or thongs, take a wander along Kelvedon Beach and find a rainbow of shells (just please don’t take them home with you), or scramble over boulders on Spiky Beach. For the ultimate beach-combing experience on the East Coast, try the wukalina walk, where you will walk protected coastline with an aboriginal guide for three nights and learn about the aboriginal heritage of the area.
