2019- Moon Landing Special. Tasmania's premier Astronomy festival is the largest of its kind in the country. Held on the first weekend of August each year, it is the kick-off event for what is more like National Science ‘Month’ than a week. The festival is designed to give all ages and levels of interest something to experience when it comes to our night sky. We spend 50% of our lives under the stars and this three day event is situated perfectly in Ulverstone to capture a great view of the night sky and potential auroras. Beginner and advanced lectures and workshops on how to use different telescopes, classes in taking aurora photos and special international guests are all fixtures of this festival. Come and view our astrophotography and aurora gallery, experience Virtual Reality, pose with working droids and dress up in cosplay to really get involved. See stunning Hubble images, live feed from ISS, night sky viewing and so much more. There is even a dedicated schools program aimed at teaching our students what to look for at the night. Schools can send an EOI at anytime for when the program is released. The main program is generally released May/June.
