Getting the timing right on waterfalls sometimes just comes down to that serendipitous sunny day that peeks out after a week of grey and grumbling downpours. This summer has been wetter than most but has made for some spectacular views of the many waterfalls Tasmania has to offer visitors.
Despite the unparalleled beauty of the Three Capes Track, with the highest dolerite cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere, their dramatic yet breathtaking views over a great variety of landscapes and striking sections of coastlines, my personal favourite day walk on the Tasman Peninsula is the track to Crescent Bay Beach.
Spring is here in Tasmania and you can see native flowers like wattles blooming everywhere. I figured it was the perfect time to take my partner and dog Charlie on a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the pristine coastline in the North West of the state.
In Tasmania I’m what they call a blow-in. Unless you are indigenous or have a Tasmanian family heritage stretching back to the convicts or early settlers then you too are a blow-in!
Tasmania’s Overland Track is an iconic 65km multi-day hiking track which runs from Cradle Mountain to Lake St-Clair. This trail takes you through world-class temperate rainforests and rugged mountains. Hearing about this epic trail and the amazing experiences people have had, I finally booked it in and hiked the trail with my family.
