After walking the amazing Cape Hauy Track on our recent visit to the Tasman Peninsula, the tin lids (10 & 13) and I went looking for a slightly easier walk the following day. We decided to tackle the 8km Mount Brown track. This out and back trail starts at the Remarkable Cave car park about 10km south of the township of Port Arthur and also includes the option to visit Crescent Bay. This was a much gentler walk than Cape Hauy but still provided us with more spectacular views of my favourite section of coastline.

Maria island is one of Tasmania’s must do experiences. The island is a 70 minute drive from the Hobart CBD to Triabunna followed by a short ferry ride to access the island. Maria Island is approximately 115 square kilometres in size and one of many National parks in Tasmania. The island was once a bustling probationary convict settlement and many of these colonial buildings still stand today. The island is now almost uninhabited except for our Park Rangers.

Being back in our wonderful city, I am now able to reflect on my time in Tassie’s oldest national park – Mount Field National Park. Living and working for three years at Mount Field was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I would regularly walk to work trying to spot a platypus in the river and meditate for a moment at a waterfall before I started my shift.

Stanley is a fishing village located in the north-west coast of Tasmania with a rich history and breathtaking views.

There is something beautiful and unique when I travel to Richmond. What I have always been intrigued by is its unique history. I enjoy walking along the paths following the steps of those before us and I take a moment to imagine what life was like back during the 1800s.

Our focus for this week is Bruny Island. Bruny Island has a vast amount of preserved beautiful natural environment with wildlife and cliff top views. Departing from Hobart and following the d’Entrecasteaux channel to Kettering, the Bruny Island Ferry only takes 15 minutes to access the Island.
