Featuring five stages of high-octane entertainment, live music and performances proudly showcasing a line-up of 100% Tasmanian talent, gourmet food and drink and a front row seat for the dazzling fireworks, The Taste of Tasmania’s New Year’s Eve Party is Hobart’s biggest end of year celebration.
Over seven sensational hours, guests to the Taste New Year’s Eve Party can dine out on morsels prepared by over 70 stallholders while 68 top quality Tassie performers take to five stages to deliver a powerful night of entertainment.
An all-Tassie extravaganza!
The Main Stage is the place to be to witness a wonderful mix of emerging and established talent, collaborating to provide a wild night of entertainment. With two huge house bands, led by musical directors Mia Palencia, Kelly Ottaway and Dan Sulzberge, be prepared to see some truly incredible talent.
Fresh faced rising star Jayden Appleby comes to The Taste’s Main Stage off the back of his viral audition on Australia’s Got Talent. Having only recently started singing, this will be Jayden’s first big live gig where he’ll wow the crowd with contemporary covers.
Other showstoppers on the night include six-piece jump jive and jazz band The Wholly Cats; slick operators Tranist featuring the wholesome vocals of ingénue Lauren Davidson; and the rebooted lively New Orleans style eight-piece brass marching band The Southern Steppers.
Spinning tracks between these big band style sets will be DJ collective Back In Wax. These master jockeys will be popping up across the site playing a mixture of vinyl and digital crowd pleasers.
So, prepare for a wander by the water’s edge as lavish melodies dance across the Derwent River, reverberating across Hobart and beyond. Extravagant entertainment, splendid sights and divine delicacies will be the dish of the day.
We’ve put together a guide of the amazing artists who’ll be bringing something special to Hobart’s night of nights:
Hugo Bladel
Fresh off another stint at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a performance at this year’s AFL Grand Final, celebrated street performer Hugo Bladel will be delivering his unique brand of high energy style to the party. A diverse performer, Hugo’s sets are never the same watch as he plays with the crowds, delivering fun improvised moments with more than a few surprises.
Throughout the night expect to see Hugo popping up around the site with his souped-up shopping trolley-come-mobile disco. With an element of circus and thumping funky tunes, this portable party is designed to get you up on your feet.

Robotikus
With a smooth blend of synth-pop, fused with contagious vocal hooks and lead by the talented Scott Targett, Robotikus will be offering up mainly original material with a pop/disco vibe and featuring a swathe of charismatic front people, including Anna Williams and Crystal Campbell.
Nardia Farid
A pocket rocket with more stage presence than even the biggest arena could contain, Nardia Farid and a collective of her muso mates will dial up the fun with an energetic swing set. Presenting a mix of high quality big band beats and a touch of comedy, this engaging and entertaining group promises to deliver classics from the 50’s and 60’s with a modern and high frequency edge.
Jay Jarome
Move over Michael Bublé! Jay Jarome, Hobart’s own hunky crooner is here to get knees weak. This stylish charmer will have hearts aflutter mixing his new and original music with reworked covers by likes of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Prince. This stylish solo act is gaining momentum with his tracks on rotation on radio stations across the country. Catch him before he hits it huge.
