There is something beautiful and unique when I travel to Richmond. What I have always been intrigued by is its unique history. I enjoy walking along the paths following the steps of those before us and I take a moment to imagine what life was like back during the 1800s.

Day tripping Bruny

Our focus for this week is Bruny Island. Bruny Island has a vast amount of preserved beautiful natural environment with wildlife and cliff top views. Departing from Hobart and following the d’Entrecasteaux channel to Kettering, the Bruny Island Ferry only takes 15 minutes to access the Island.

"Gone fishing" - Unwinding in the Huon

The Huon Valley is famous for its forests, farming and produce all surrounding the Huon River. Taking the rods down to the river after work and having a fish is a great way to unwind and relax (especially now with the weather warming up and daylight savings giving me more time on the river). The river hosts a range of different species including Trout, Salmon, Bream, White Bait and Pike. Many of these are delicious or just fun to catch and release.

To Hellfire and back

Recently on my trip down to the Tasman Peninsula, I discovered Hellfire Bluff Distillery (owned by the Daly Family) located in Marion Bay. They are open 10 till 4 daily and offer free tastings of their speciality Potato Vodka (must try), London Dry Gin, Summer Gin, Piquant Gin, Sloe Gin, Coffee Liqueur and Limoncello. The range is handcrafted using the pristine local rainwater and finest botanicals – including some quintessentially Tasmanian ingredients.
